Last week Mark’s mom cleaned out his closet from his old room at their house. He hasn’t lived there in about 3 or 4 years so most of what he left there ended up being trash. But there were a few little gems.
One of which was a kite. he had this thing for ages and it was covered in dust but had never been used. So he brought it out to the orchard to try to fly. Mark was really excited and made sure he set it up just right.
Mark tried a few times to get the kite up in the air but it crashed every time. I asked to see it. Mark said I would get it caught in a tree but I emphatically disagreed. He was sure that if I kept running it would go straight into the trees. But I was sure it would not. So he helped me get set up and I got it flying!
But then I got a little too excited and Mark’s premonition came true…
After trying to rescue the kite, none of us could get it down. So it was officially stuck.
Mark was right. I flew the kite and got it stuck in a tree just like he said I would. And even though Mark never had the chance to fly the kite, he didn’t get mad. He didn’t even rub in the fact that he was right and the first time I got the kite up in their air it took a dive bomb into a tree.
That’s one of the things I love most about him. He is slow to anger and only really gets upset if something is really worth it. And this wasn’t. We had a great time trying to set up the kite and a great time trying to get the kite down from the tree. And now I owe Mark a kite. So maybe soon we will try this again.
