Stupid

2 Jul

Last week my computer got the blue screen of death. I was seriously thinking that I had enough of a break from my blog and was itching a bit to get back at it. And then… duh, duh, duh! (Insert ominous music) My computer just totally craped out.

And because it is about 7 or 8 years old I really don’t want to put too much effort in getting it up again. I mean come on; I have probably had at least 6 phones in that amount of time. I really think it is just time for the ‘ol ThinkPad to retire and for me to get a slick new Mac. Probably not going to happen, but in the meantime I can steal Mark’s once in a while.

Which is stupid but not really why I titled this post stupid. That was more just to explain my extended absence from writing any blog posts. Loosely related by also stupid:

The treasures available from the Sunday paper…

I am pretty sure the best part is that it already has the option checked to “Please rush me” the Meekrat Solar Lights. How did they know I need this immediately?

Garden Grow

3 May

The day has finally arrived! We picked the first treasures from our garden yesterday afternoon. Cilantro and strawberries. So exciting!

And to make it even better, we made dinner using these ingredients. Well really the cilantro only. We just ate the strawberries on their own.

Delicious fish tacos with fresh cilantro from the garden.

Love eating on the porch. And love our home made tortillas!

To top it off, a sweet strawberry.

My way to eat a strawberry…

Mark’s way to eat a strawberry. Dipped in sugar for extra sweetness… That guy…

Changes

18 Apr

When Mark and I got married we lived in his grandparent’s pink little rental house. We moved out of the rental and got our own place. But it was still kinda fun to drive past the house once in a while. That was our first place together. The house we brought Meisje home to, where we figured out how to cook together and the first place we received Mr. & Mrs. snail mail.

But that chapter is officially closed.

Mark’s grandparents sold the physical house in order to build a new one. And now there is an empty space where our home used to be. Things are changing! And even though it is a little nostalgic, it is still really exciting to see what is new and coming up next- for the house and for us!

Here is the

Going. Going. Gone!

Almost Summer

17 Apr

This has been such a crazy winter. It hardly rained and then this month there have been downpours and hail and thunder. But this past weekend I had a glimpse of bright, beautiful sunshine and now I am ready once again to put away my winter sweaters and boots and get out dresses and sandals.

And with the sunshine and warm weather came our next purchase for the house. This one was for me. Mark agreed to get two lounge chairs to sit next to our pool. I am so excited! I love laying out in the sun with a good book during summer weekends. It is going to be awesome.

Now that it is almost summer, I am looking forward to weekend BBQs in our backyard and lazy days on a pool raft.

The new chairs!

The dogs are loving the warm weather too!

Perfect weather for some front porch sitting!

Friday Fav’s

The garden is growing!

Mark agreed to go to Trader Joes. And asked for this on the way out. I think my last purchase convinced him!

Got my hair done this week! LOVE it. Now if only I could make it this straight when I do it.

I went to the mall this week and between stores I went to Sees' Candy for just one chocolate. It reminds me of trips to the mall with my mom. :)
