High Heels & Almond Fields

So I am that dog lady. I love my puppies and it was BOTH of their birthday’s so now they get another full post.

Meisje’s birthday was Sunday – she turned one!

And Lexi’s birthday was yesterday. She turned five which means that she was born on 6.6.6, or June 6, 2006. She is our little devil dog.

And so we had to celebrate. We got them bones which they loved.

And then we took them to the orchards to play with our new fetch toy. They had a great birthday!

Next weekend is mine and Mark’s first anniversary. I love my amazing husband. During marital counseling he discovered that my primary love language is gift giving. (Read the 5 Love Languages if you haven’t yet.) For the past three weeks every time he does the yard work he also fills the vase on our kitchen table with roses for me. This week it was one big yellow rose with a bunch of buds that will bloom over the week. He is my favorite.

Usually moms end up with the most unimaginative gifts. And I will admit that often I am the culprit of gifting a very generic symbol of appreciation. It is just so easy to go out at the last minute and get a basket of lotion and scented candles. Who cares if it all happens to smell like stale baby powder? But since there are 11 days till Mother’s Day which means there is still a whole weekend to purchase a slightly more thoughtful gift, I spent some time researching things moms may like. Since my mom does not read this yet, here is what we are getting her; Shhh!: ( This is actually my  husband’s new business so it is extra special because it is probably the first hand made gift my mom has received since I was 12)
